Subject: Heard of Barbie the destroyer?

Half a dozen of us had a really useful day together last month at the first ever ECF London work day. Join the next one in London (17 June)... or in Manchester, Amsterdam, Vienna...

PS - and I've started listing the lastest hot campaigns below too...

Hot campaigns

What do you think is hot (for next month's issue)?

ECF face-to-face

You can't beat a face to face meetup, no matter how much you love the internet. Here's where e-Campaigning Forum members are getting together.

  • London: 10:10 are kindly hosting the next ECF London work day this Friday 17 June – a chance for digital campaigners to get on with their normal work in a shared space. Reply to this email if you're interested in coming along.
  • Manchester: The first ECF UK North work day will be on 1 July at the Church Action on Poverty offices. Contact [email protected])
  • Amsterdam: ECFers are getting together for drinks and chat again on 16 June
  • Vienna: ECF Central and Eastern Europe in November - early bird booking rates until 20 June.

Topics of the month

Visit the FairSay blog for a quick round up of the interesting exchanges on the ECF list last month:

  • URL shorteners
  • Google maps for campaigning.
  • How many emails to make an impact?
  • Cookies and EU rules
  • Page optimisation
  • Best practice on opt ins

and plenty more...

What we're up to

Brie has been busy helping Oxfam prepare for the launch of their great new GROW campaign on the global food system, launched last week. Jess has been grappling with the ECF list wisdom and turning her thoughts to preparing for ECF Europe in November.

Meanwhile I've been working with Greenpeace UK and ActionAid UK, helping them to improve how they use Engaging Networks' e-activist tool and carrying out analysis and consultancy for Macmillan Cancer Support and WWF International.

Campaigner awards

Do you know of a great campaigner who deserves help and recognition? In the UK, the Sheila McKechnie Awards recognise and support people who are making a real difference in their communities, with a tailored package of support and mentoring to winners in nine categories, including consumer action, environment, local activism, and awards for older and younger campaigners.  Closing date 20 June.
